Jon Huntsman hires former Haley Barbour aide

Jon Huntsman has added former Haley Barbour communications aide James Richardson to his campaign-in-waiting.

Richardson informed friends and colleagues of the move in an email Tuesday. “Wanted to send word your way that I’ve saddled up with Gov. Jon Huntsman’s political action committee, H PAC, for whom I’ll be concentrating on the outsized role of conservative commentary writers and online journalists,” Richardson explained.

Richardson was the RNC’s online communications manager in 2008 and is the first former Haley Barbour staffer to commit to one of the other presidential campaigns. Richardson has also served as a consultant to the NRSC and Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), and has blogged for RedState and other outlets.
