MS GOP fishes for opponent for Rep. John Mayo (D) in HD-25

By: Magnolia Tribune - April 26, 2011

It’s Tuesday morning, and that means it’s time for our weekly Liberal Democrat Alert.

This week’s Liberal Democrat is Representative John Mayo of House District 25.

John Mayo has represented a sprawling district from his home in Clarksdale all the way north into DeSoto County since 2000. (Click here to see if you or someone you know lives in liberal John Mayo’s district.)

Over the past eleven years, John Mayo has built a record of liberal vote after liberal vote.

This week’s feature is on a bill John Mayo wrote and introduced last year, HB 821. John Mayo apparently didn’t think gas prices are high enough in Mississippi, so he proposed raising the gas tax by another five cents!

Today, the average cost of a gallon of regular in Mississippi is over $3.66 per gallon. With Mississippi families working harder and harder to make ends meet, John Mayo wanted to add to their financial burden by raising taxes on gas.
