Lawmakers Blame Barbour For Missed Budget Deadline, Barbour Fires Back
JACKSON, Miss. — State lawmakers worked through the weekend and Sunday voted to borrow $422 million to pay for things ranging from the Toyota plant in Blue Springs to fixing college campuses.
It’s a bond bill, not a budget. Lawmakers were supposed to have the budget worked out by 8 p.m. Saturday.
During a live exclusive interview with 16 WAPT News on Sunday, Gov. Haley Barbour fired back at those who blamed him for the budget stalemate.
“Even though when I am out of town, I can be contacted, my staff and the Senate seem to be able to do that. The House, I don’t know, maybe they don’t have cellphones,” said Barbour.
