Friends, foes rap Bryant map plan
Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant’s push to kill the Democratic-controlled House’s proposed legislative map and end-run his own Republican committee chairman has stirred a political fight in the Capitol that has legislators buzzing.
“I don’t know what the lieutenant governor’s trying to prove except that he’s a mighty man,” said House Speaker Billy McCoy, D-Rienzi. “I’m damn irritated.”
“Evidently, the lieutenant governor wishes for the House and Senate to have to run twice.”
