White flight hits region, data shows
Census data for Mississippi released recently provides a good snapshot of changes in our state, cities and counties in the last 10 years.
As seen in our report on page 1A in today’s edition, white flight from Hattiesburg and Forrest County into Lamar County has picked up speed in the last decade.
Hattiesburg’s white population fell by 14 percent while the black population grew by 15 percent.
