Mississippi senators approve child sex abuse reporting law
JACKSON — State senators approved legislation Thursday that supporters call the Child Protection Act, a measure that has failed twice before in the House but continues to resurface in the conservative, Republican-dominated Senate.
The bill would require teachers, day care providers, ministers, physicians and other health care providers to report suspected child sexual abuse to local law enforcement officers or the state departments of Public Safety or Human Services.
