Redefining legislative districts could mark major political power shift
Fair representation in terms of race and numbers have historically been what has sparked fights over reconfigured district lines, a task Mississippi undertakes every 10 years based on new Census numbers.
This year, however, if there is a fight it will be over who wins control of the Legislature where Democrats hold a small edge.
The new district lines promise to be a big factor not only in the next 10 years but far beyond, observers said.
