Clarion Ledger – Security for officials eyed after Tucson shooting

Members of Mississippi’s congressional delegation will be among the federal officials examining security measures for Congress following the shooting of an Arizona congresswoman and 19 others at a political event.

Rep. Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona was critically wounded Saturday during the shooting that also left six people dead and 13 injured.

Third District Rep. Gregg Harper, a member of the House Administration Committee, said he will work with committee members and law enforcement officials to make sure security measures are in place. The committee’s jurisdiction includes the Capitol Police, which is responsible for protecting members and their families.
