Whether could delay special election
JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A spokesman says Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour will decide Monday whether to delay Tuesday’s special elections because of wintry weather.
Voters in the northern one-third of the state will choose a transportation commission. Those in parts of Lee and Pontotoc counties will choose a state senator, and those in parts of Harrison county will choose a state representative.
Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann said Sunday that the elections are still scheduled to happen Tuesday unless he’s ordered to change them.
