Nunnelee lands on key committee
Incoming 1st District congressman to serve on appropriations panel
WASHINGTON — Rep.-elect Alan Nunnelee got what he wanted for the holidays – a seat on the powerful Appropriations Committee.
Nunnelee, who will be sworn-in Jan. 5 as the new Republican congressman from Mississippi’s 1st District, had hoped to land a spot on the coveted committee, which makes spending decisions for the government.
Nunnelee, 52, served as chairman of Mississippi’s Senate Appropriations Committee. He likened federal economic concerns to ones he has dealt with at the state level.
