Barbour’s budget has bombshells in fine print
President Obama has come under fire for rolling out major legislative proposals in the current lame duck session of Congress, when a new Congress heavily laced with newly-elected Republicans will come to town in January.
Down here in Mississippi we have a somewhat similar situation. Gov. Haley Barbour technically is a lame duck governor since his term-limited tenure ends in January, 2012 when his successor takes office.
That fact has not prevented Barbour from coming up with a slew of proposed major governmental reforms tucked away in the executive FY 2012 budget he has submitted to the Legislature for consideration at its 2011 session beginning January 4.
