Where’s the SEC defense? Offense now coming in tidal wave
Statistically, the numbers only hint at what’s to come.
SEC defenses allow an average of 208 passing yards a game, just 20 more than last year. The same units allow 16 more total yards and two additional points, all modest numbers.
But consider this nugget: A year ago, Auburn’s defense allowed 27.5 points a game, the worst in the league. In 2010, four teams (Vanderbilt, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ole Miss) allow more, with the last three giving up more than 30 a game.
What’s gone wrong?
Bill Oliver says it’s complicated, but it starts with fundamentals, including the lack of tackling and the inability to carry out an assignment.
