High voter turnout reported in South Mississippi
GULFPORT — Election workers are reporting a good, possibly heavy turnout at South Mississippi voting polls this morning and a high turn-out statewide with few problems reported.
Workers at the North Vancleave precinct at Vancleave Methodist Church said at least 20 people were waiting in line when the polls opened at 7 a.m. The only contested race in that precinct is the District 4 congressional race between incumbent U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor (R), and candidates Steven Palazzo (R), Kenneth “Tim” Hampton (Libertarian), and Anna Jewel Revies (Reform).
North Vancleave poll workers said the turn-out has been “non-stop.”
