New coaches having varying degrees of success

During his one-year tenure at Tennessee, Lane Kiffin was known mostly for the controversy he caused. However, his tenure at Southern California has been comparatively low key as he heads into Saturday’s game against No. 1 Oregon.
Meanwhile, the man who replaced him, Derek Dooley, a lawyer and son of a coaching legend, has been making news for his mouth. Heading into Saturday’s game at No. 17 South Carolina, he compared the struggles of his inexperienced 2-5 team to the German forces during the Allies’ invasion of Normandy during World War II.

Sometimes hiring a new coach doesn’t always go as expected. Many assumed Kiffin would stumble, especially in the wake of NCAA sanctions against USC. Instead, the offense has improved under Kiffin, and the 5-2 Trojans are two last-second field goals away from being undefeated.
