Gene Taylor: U.S. may have to leave Afghanistan
HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) – Congressman Gene Taylor says it’s time for the leadership in Afghanistan to make a new commitment to running a transparent and effective government…otherwise, it may be time for the U.S. to make a new commitment to leave that country.
Taylor made those comments Saturday, as he hosted his 19th annual Academy Day at Southern Miss. The event showcases the nation’s military academies to local high school students.
Just this week, another Pine Belt soldier was killed in Afghanistan. Eric Newman of Wayne County died when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was on patrol.
