Miss. Governor’s Race Coming Together For 2011

The names are floating around about who is in and who might jump in the governor’s race. Republican Dave Dennis, from the Mississippi Gulf Coast, is a wealthy businessman who’s been compared to Former Gov. Kirk Fordice. Bill Luckett, from the Delta, is running as a Democrat. Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny DuPree, a Democrat, may also be in the running. And Republican Lt. Gov. Phil Bryant is considered by most to be the frontrunner.

But Secretary of State Delbert Hoseman is considered a dark horse possibility. WAPT’s Scott Simmons tried to pin Hoseman down about whether he is in the governor’s race or not. While showing off voting machines at the Mississippi State Fair on Tuesday, Hoseman was guarded when answering questions about whether he’s running for re-election, or for another statewide office.
