LT. GOVERNOR PHIL BRYANT RELEASE STATEMENT ON SEPTEMBER TAX COLLECTIONS
“Numbers released today by the State Department of Revenue show that tax collections for September fell $5.2 million or -1.26 percent below the revenue estimate. This proves we continue to face extreme budget challenges ahead. Just this past week state agencies requested an additional $1.3 billion in new money for fiscal 2012. We must continue to be prudent in our spending because right now is exactly the wrong time to raise taxes on struggling Mississippi families and businesses.”
