Banged-up Rebels seek improved D
OXFORD — There was a time Saturday night when Ole Miss’ defense looked to have taken a measured stride forward. Shortly after halftime, the Rebels led Fresno State by 31 and had allowed just 10 points.
But then came a barrage of passing, almost to the point that it got the Bulldogs back in the game. The final stats weren’t pretty: 38 points and 420 yards, with 390 of those coming in the air.
Throw that on top of the injury concerns that could have as many as three Rebels starters out for Saturday’s game against Kentucky (3-1, 0-1 SEC).
It’s not a recipe that has UM coach Houston Nutt excited.
