Mullen talks confidence after big win
— The 10-play, 93-yard touchdown drive that ended with Chris Relf’s 33-yard touchdown pass to Arceto Clark “was probably the best drive we’ve had since I’ve been the coach here,” Mullen said. The pitch and catch gave State a 17-6 lead late in the fourth quarter.
Additionally, Mullen called Relf’s performance the best he’s had in an MSU uniform. Relf was 9-of-14 passing for 148 yards with two touchdowns. A stat-keeping error by MSU credited Vick Ballard with a 13-yard touchdown rush on a pitch, but the pitch was a forward pass upon further review
— The offensive line, if you couldn’t tell, had one of its better games after a dismal performance in a 29-7 loss at LSU.
“I don’t think we ever hit he panic button with the offensive line,” Mullen said. “It was more of a kick in the rear end to play to the level that we expect them to play.
