Georgia hasn’t lost a game to Mississippi State since 1974 and hasn’t lost in Starkville, Miss., since 1951. The schools have only played 21 times despite both being charter members of the SEC. Georgia has won nine straight over Mississippi State, although they’ve met only twice since 1997.
A win Saturday at Auburn would give South Carolina’s Steve Spurrier 107 SEC wins, which would move him into sole possession of second place, passing former Ole Miss coach John Vaught. The only man ahead of him is Bear Bryant, who has 159 SEC wins.
