Secret Outsider Groups, Nunnelee Allies Try to Tell Independent-Minded North Mississippians What to Believe
Booneville, MS – In yet another attempt by national groups to tell North Mississippians what to believe, the secretive outside group and Alan Nunnelee ally, American Future Fund (AFF), is trying to influence First District voters. AFF – whose donors are not publicly released – is airing ads about the First District Congressional race in the empty hopes of manipulating independent-minded North Mississippians.
“Secretive outside groups like the AFF, that are also supporters of Alan Nunnelee, think they can tell North Mississippians what to believe clearly aren’t familiar with Mississippi voters,” said Dana Edelstein, Childers for Congress Communications Director. “North Mississippians are independent-minded people and they don’t like to be told what to do, especially by groups that could be backed by big companies or foreign entities. The people of the First District know Travis Childers personally. They’ll make up their own minds about this race.”

American Future Fund Is a Registered 501(c) (4) Organization That Does Not Have to Disclose Its Donors, All Of Whom Can Give “Unlimited” Amounts. The American Future Fund describes itself as a “multistate issues advocacy group designed to effectively communicate conservative and free market ideals.” The group files with the IRS as a 501(c) (4), classifying it as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization that does not have to disclose its donors, “all of whom can give unlimited sums to the effort.” According to the group’s tax filings for FY 2008, the group was headquartered at 4225 Fleur Drive, Suite #142 in Des Moines, Iowa, with total receipts of $7,490,516 for that year, with $10,000 of investment income and the rest in the form of contributions.
