STATE BOND COMMISSION INTENDS TO LOAN $6 MILLION TO CITY OF JACKSON FOR WATER SYSTEM UPGRADES

JACKSON – The Mississippi Bond Commission today voted unanimously to loan the city of Jackson $6 million for water system upgrades based upon the city’s intention to secure additional funding through existing state infrastructure programs, Gov. Haley Barbour announced today.

“The Bond Commission action will allow the City to draw down this fall up to $6 million of a no-interest, short-term loan to fund improvements around the Capitol Complex,” Gov. Barbour wrote in a letter today to Mayor Harvey Johnson Jr.

The three-member Bond Commission is comprised of Gov. Barbour, Treasurer Tate Reeves and Attorney General Jim Hood. Gov. Barbour serves as chairman.
