MIM – Why did it take Childers so long to release poll numbers

Travis Childers’ campaign released internal polling data this week that shows him with a 5 point edge on Alan Nunnelee in their hotly contested Congressional race. It only took him 3 months to come out with his own numbers following Nunnelee’s polling that showed him ahead at 50-42. I find it odd that it took Childers so long to come out with numbers that essentially show a dead heat if you put them within the margin of error. Why even bother releasing numbers if that is the case? I think it is safe to say that Childers campaign may actually be taking on water by making such a desperate reach with this news.
