Mississippi State played Memphis; this is a very bad FBS team, but likely some better than San Jose and Tennessee Tech. Rank third in the SEC.
Ole Miss did not play opening week; they simply showed up and embarrassed themselves. To give credit where it is due, the Gamecocks are ranked fifth or sixth in the state of Alabama. I guess that is something, but Mississippi will not be included in this discussion. Further embarrassment is uncalled for.
