$500M project may create 1,000 jobs
State lawmakers will head to the Capitol next week to consider an incentive package to lure a $500 million economic development project that will create 1,000 jobs.
In announcing a 10 a.m. special session for Friday, Gov. Haley Barbour provided scant details about the project, possibly related to biofuels, or the incentive he will propose.
The project, with locations around the state, will spur $85 million in wages and direct Mississippi purchases, according to Barbour’s office.
Dan Turner, Barbour’s spokesman, said details will come once the project is closer to completion.
“We’ve generally not said much when we’ve had these types of economic development projects,” he said.
