Smart happy with decision to stay
Decision to stay at Alabama instead of leaving for Georgia a no-brainer for Kirby Smart
A few weeks after Smart turned down his alma mater, Alabama approved a base annual salary of $750,000 for Smart, commensurate with the offer the Bulldogs reportedly had made in their attempt to lure him with in January. Smart indicated his relationship with current Alabama players was also a factor in his decision to stay.
“There are a lot of guys on this team I helped recruit, I feel very loyal to those guys, and I’m excited about the opportunity here. My wife loves Tuscaloosa, and ultimately it’s a family decision and a business decision.”
