Of particular frustration to fans is a stretch that has seen the Sooners drop four of their last five games to archrival Texas. Stoops – whose teams dominated the Longhorns from 2000-04 – was asked by an Oklahoma reporter if he had developed a “Texas problem.”

“The goal is to win the Big 12 championship,” Stoops said. “Three of the last four years, we won the Big 12 championship, including three in a row. No one else has even won back-to-back. [Yet] somehow, [Texas] has been a ‘problem.’ If you’re going to write it, write the rest of the story.
