State sales tax holiday to give consumers, businesses a break
LAUREL — The state’s small businesses are expected to get a shot in the arm next weekend during Mississippi’s second annual sales tax holiday.
Ron Aldridge, Mississippi state director of the National Federation of Independent Business, said that customers can purchase select items tax free beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday until midnight July 21.
“Most clothing and footwear — what you can wear next to your body — is included,” he said. “The Department of Revenue has a list of eligible and not eligible items on its Website.”
