Childers, Nunnelee see fundraising results differently

First Congressional District rivals Alan Nunnelee and Travis Childers can be expected to disagree about various issues as they seek the House seat Childers has held since 2008.

Now, Republican Nunnelee brags he’s raised more campaign money than Democrat Childers between May and July.

Wednesday, Nunnelee’s campaign said it raised $312,000 from May through June. Childers posted $276,947 for the same period.

But Nunnelee’s got a gap to close as Childers points to his campaign money in the bank – $903,469. Nunnelee reports $233,205 cash on hand.

Childers and Nunnelee face off on the Nov. 2 general election ballot with seven other independent and non-mainstream party nominees for the First District seat.
