Key stretch: vs. North Carolina (Sept. 4), at Vanderbilt (Sept. 11), Mississippi State (Sept. 18), West Virginia (Sept. 25).
Prediction: Some teams have the luxury of cruising through the month of September. The Tigers will have no such luxury in 2010. They will need to be at the top of their game from the outset if they plan on heading into October unbeaten. There aren’t any glorified scrimmages. The North Carolina game is the most important opener Les Miles has faced since he came to Baton Rouge in 2005. A loss would make for an ugly climate on the Bayou. The fans there are already restless. On the flip side, if the Tigers can take care of business against the Tar Heels and then use that momentum to motor into October with a 4-0 record, they ought to be right there in the middle of Western Division race come November.
