Viewpoints: Should the SEC expand?
Danny Wuerffel
My high school coach as a foundational coaching point use to always tell us, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” That is one undergirding principle. I remember one game in the [high school] playoffs we ran the fullback wedge eight times in a row on the first series of the game. We kept running it and marched all the way down the field and we scored. He just made the point: Why do anything different if it is working?
Then again, my old coach Steve Spurrier use to say, “You’ve got to be flexible.” Mike Slive [commissioner of the SEC] said if things change elsewhere and it would make it important for the SEC to change, he is open to that, too. That is a wise place to be.
