Will the Big 12 add new members?

Commissioner Dan Beebe said the Big 12 currently has no interest in expansion. “And certainly we wouldn’t look to expand with any institutions that are in our geographic five-state area now,” he said. “We’re very comfortable with where we are.”

OSU athletic director Mike Holder said a new member would have to bring $15 million worth of value to the table in order to make the revenue pool worth dividing. “I don’t think right now that there is anyone who brings that kind of value,” he said.

How will scheduling change with 10 members?

Big 12 football teams will play every league opponent every year, resulting in nine conference games per season instead of eight. Men’s and women’s basketball teams will play home and away games against every league opponent. That’s a winning proposition for men’s basketball fans because it means Kansas is coming to your gym every year. But basketball coaches’ jobs just got tougher.
