By adding Nebraska, it’s clear that the Big Ten is expanding to 16 teams. Commissioner Jim Delany has talked extensively about the need for the conference to move southward in its geographical footprint and to gain critical television markets for the Big Ten Network.
Adding Nebraska does neither.
