Ole Miss ace, likely gone after draft, savors award
Drew Pomeranz cracked half a smile at the notion that his Ole Miss career might be drawing to a close. He’s a junior, but he stands a good chance to be a first-round pick in next month’s Major League Baseball draft.
He tries not to think about it, but… “it’s hard not to, I guess,” he said, after the half-smile.
Here Monday night, before he and his Ole Miss teammates start the postseason on Wednesday, he had a reason to reflect on his career in full: Pomeranz was presented with the Cellular South Ferriss Trophy, awarded to the state’s top college baseball player.
