Angela McGlowan makes more allegations in MS-01 Republican contest

By: Magnolia Tribune - May 12, 2010

The political website Solid Principles scored an interview with the ever-quotable Angela McGlowan, where she dropped even more bombshells. In the 8 minute interview, she alleged . . .

1. That she has received threats to her office including death threats
2 That she was told by elected officials in DC not to run
3. A doctored photo of her is being circulated
4. That there is a concerted effort to make the effort against her racially motivated
5. She came very close to ending her campaign, but changed her mind

Given the level of outrageous comments to come out of the McGlowan camp so far in this campaign, it’s a bit like the “boy who cried wolf”. It’s hard to know what to take seriously. I hope this some of this is just puffery or exaguration. If it’s not, McGlowan should report the threats to the FBI . . . immediately. She cannot and should just play around with that. That shouldn’t be a campaign prop. She should also immediately come out and put some meat on the bone of these allegations in terms of details instead of coyly alleging that supporters of her opponents did “this or that” about distributing doctored flyers, etc. Her “knowing” and not telling is not acceptable. If this is happening and she knows who’s doing it, whoever it is ought to be identified and dealt with. If they’re in the Republican party, I want ’em out. Candidly, I strongly doubt that sort of stuff is coming from Republicans, but if it is, they need to be purged.

Republicans in MS-01 are leery about another 2008-like disaster and nobody in that race on the Republican side has either the history of doing this or anything to gain by it. It has been and remains my opinion that McGlowan will finish a distant third in this race. We’ll know on June 1.

Disclosure – As I have said on repeated occasions, I have made a reportable contribution to Alan Nunnelee in this race.
