Reports of Big Ten expansion offers denied
A report that the Big Ten has offered spots in its league to four universities is being widely denied.
Sports Radio 810 in Kansas City reported Monday that the conference offered spots to Missouri, Nebraska, Notre Dame and Rutgers. According to the report, Rutgers’ spot would be contingent on Notre Dame’s decision.
The Chicago Tribune reports a Big Ten spokesman denied that any offers were made. When the Big Ten first announced it was considering expansion in December, league officials said they would take 12 to 18 months to look into it.
