Well-Paid Execs vs. Elite NFL Picks

The first 10 picks will average about $30 million in guaranteed salary for their rookie contracts, based on top picks’ pay since 2007. That’s 25% more than the average direct pay of the top-earning CEOs in fiscal 2009. (We used the first 200 firms with $4 billion-plus in revenue that filed final proxy statements since October).

Granted, the CEOs likely will make more money in the next several years. And the execs have an edge at the top. Occidental’s Ray Irani made $52.2 million last year, while likely No. 1 Sam Bradford might have to squeeze by on $47 million.
