Bittersweet time for Tennessee assistant, Detroit native Tony Jones

ST. LOUIS — This afternoon, Tony Jones will walk out to the court at the Edward Jones Dome and see everything he always wanted, everything he always feared, everything he hopes to win and the dearest thing he ever lost.
Jones is an assistant coach at Tennessee. He is also a Detroit native who used to coach in the Detroit Public Schools, and a friend of Michigan State coaches Tom Izzo, Mark Montgomery and Dwayne Stephens.
Mostly, though, he is Sonny J.’s kid. And Sonny J. should be here.
