Adding to the more casual nature of this night is the fact that Kennedy and Texas Tech coach Pat Knight have been close since Knight was playing at Indiana while Kennedy was an assistant at South Alabama. “He’s one of my best friends in the business,” Knight told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “I’ve never been to Oxford, so I’m kind of looking forward to it because it’s supposed to be a neat place. At least you know a good guy is going to win. If you had to lose, you’re really upset if it’s a bad guy.”
