Every year, there seem to be a few college football teams that surprise us all—including those in the media—by overachieving and giving hope to the BCS haters.

These teams make a big splash on the national scene, and they even threaten to rock the BCS boat—causing the yearly debate on the need for a playoff system in Division I college football.

Here are my picks for those overlooked teams and why I chose them.
