LSU baseball position series: pitching staff
BATON ROUGE – Change is coming to the 2010 LSU pitching staff.
Anthony Ranaudo
More specifically, changeups are coming.
The Tigers are losing the heart of last year’s staff in Louis Coleman, who won 14 games and was the team’s emotional center. Even with highly capable arms returning there is need – and room – for improvement to make up for Coleman’s absence.
Enter the hot “new” pitch. LSU’s three top pitchers – ace Anthony Ranaudo, closer Matty Ott and No. 2 starter Austin Ross – are each sporting improved changeups with the start of the season four days away.
Overall the LSU pitching staff may be better than last year’s, with more depth and more pitchers ready to contribute.
