Chase for quarterbacks starts much too early
A week after Southern Cal Coach Lane Kiffin was quoted as saying he didn’t need to say anything to get the Trojans the type of national publicity he frequently did during his short stay at Tennessee, Kiffin offered a scholarship to a 13-year-old quarterback from Bear, Del.
David Sills Jr., whose father helps coach the seventh-grader’s team at Bear Mountain Christian Academy, quickly accepted Kiffin’s non-binding offer.
The teenager has been tutored by quarterbacks guru Steve Clarkson for almost four years. Clarkson doesn’t come cheap. He previously worked with former Southern Cal quarterbacks Matt Leinart and Matt Barkley.
