Bulldogs hoping to enhance NCAA chances vs. Rebels
STARKVILLE — There was no rocket science in the question – How nice will it be to play at home? – so there was reason for Mississippi State star senior center Jarvis Varnado to smile and give an obvious answer.
“It’s going to be great,” he said Monday, grinning.
The understatement in his response, though, was as big as Varnado’s wingspan.
For Mississippi State, the simple act of playing a game in front of folks wearing maroon shirts and clapping to “Hail State” might just be its best remaining hope. To resuscitate a flailing NCAA Tournament resume, State has placed before it a three-game homestand bookended by quality opponents.
