Will Muschamp is staying at Texas
All of you who think Will Muschamp is wild and crazy, rash and impetuous, put a sock in it.
Just got the word from a source close to the future head coaching star.
Yes, he was Tennessee’s top choice to replace Lane Kiffin.
No, he’s not going to jump at the chance to become a head coach right now.
Instead, Muschamp is staying at Texas as defensive coordinator and head coach-in-waiting.
A University of Texas spokesman told several newspapers in that state Wednesday night — including the Austin American-Statesman and the Dallas Morning News — that Muschamp told him he was happy at Texas and planned to be there “for a long time.”
Long term, it makes sense.
He’s only 38 years old.
He’s making a little more than $900k a year.
He’s got a great gig right where he is.
