What Will The House Now Do?

The Senate bill was pretty much as Barbour had supported: the ability to cut up to ten percent from state agencies rather than the current limit of five. This authority expires at the end of June.

House Appropriations Chairman Johnny Stringer (D-Montrose) will meet with Senate Appropriations Chairman Alan Nunnelee (R-Tupelo) to discuss the bill. We have noted some of the objections from the Democratic run House over the past week.

Barbour was quick to praise the Senate for passing the bill and concluded by saying, “I hope the House will follow suit.”
