Fisher lands another big commitment

Even with just half his staff in place, Jimbo Fisher is proving to be a remarkable recruiter.

A mere five days after All-American linebacker Jeff Luc committed to play for Florida State’s new head coach, fellow All-American Lamarcus Joyner did the same.

The dynamic St. Thomas Aquinas ( Fort Lauderdale) athlete committed to Fisher on Wednesday night.

“Coach Jimbo Fisher is a great guy,” Joyner said. “A lot of the guys in my life that inspired me — my uncle, my DB coach — had nothing but great things to say about him. And when we met, I just felt real comfortable with him.”

The 5-foot-8, 175-pound, lightning-quick senior has been a threat all over the field for Aquinas. On offense, he has rushed for 399 yards and four touchdowns on 47 carries and has also caught 16 passes for 269 yards and four more TDs.

On special teams he has returned three kicks for touchdowns and averages a whopping 50 yards per return. In total, Joyner has touched the ball 70 times this season for St. Aquinas and has totaled 1,018 yards — an average of 14.5 yards per touch.
