Salter Blog – Gene Taylor calls it like he sees it
U.S. Rep. Gene Taylor, D-Bay St. Louis, isn’t a good politician in the classic sense. He’s abrupt. He’s abrasive. He frequently disagrees with his own party and he jousts at political windmills in fights he know he can’t win. While Taylor isn’t a good politician, he’s a fine congressman. Like it or lump it, Taylor always represents what he believes are his constituent’s best interests and let’s the chips fall. Works for me.
Taylor takes on the power structure no matter which party is in power — Democrats or GOP. He is consistent in his beliefs. He doesn’t pander. He doesn’t go along to get along and he doesn’t care if the House Speaker, the President, the FEMA director or anyone else doesn’t like it.
