Campus Rewind: The highs and lows from the college football weekend
It was another exciting weekend of action in college football with thrilling finishes and unlikely upsets. Here’s a look some of the highs and lows from the field.
Who is No. 1? A better question: Does it matter? Florida struggled to beat Arkansas. At home. Same with Texas against a Sam Bradford-less Oklahoma with their own late field. goal. Alabama didn’t exactly light up the scoreboard against South Carolina it its victory. There might be some debate about what order they should be in. The only thing that matters, though, is that they keep winning – no matter how ugly. That will be all that is needed to ensure a spot in the title game in Pasadena.
Boilers up. Buckeyes down. Not many teams could have used a big win than Purdue and first-year coach Danny Hope. The Boilermakers had lost five straight, including games at home against Northern Illinois and Northwestern. The win may not do much for their bowl hopes, but it does provide Hope with something good to sell to his team going forward. As for Ohio State, the dreams are of a national title are over. The focus now goes to the Big Ten and an upcoming showdown with Iowa next month.
