Excessive celebration penalty still puzzling to Georgia
The fallout from Georgia’s 20-13 loss to LSU continued Sunday, a day after the Tigers’ winning touchdown was set up by an excessive celebration penalty against Bulldogs receiver A.J. Green.
Green had caught a touchdown pass giving Georgia a 13-12 lead with 1:09 to play but seconds later was called for the penalty.
He said after the game he was just “celebrating with my team,” but the Southeastern Conference released a statement from the officiating crew that said, “Following a brief team celebration, Green made a gesture to the crowd calling attention to himself.”
