Two teams that can’t handle success
Never trust a top-10 college football team coached by Jeff Tedford or Houston Nutt.
Tedford may have written his coaching obituary Saturday. Mind you, he’s not going to be fired for sixth-ranked Cal’s losing 42-3 to Oregon. But Tedford is falling into the Tommy Bowden syndrome — that is, monumental collapses that define a coaching career, even one as good as Tedford’s. The loss was Tedford’s most lopsided as Cal’s coach and comes two years after the Bears rose to No. 2, only to lose five of their next six games.
